The much awaited solo exhibiton of Ġulja Holland, ALTERED EGOS, is finally here Ġulja Holland (b. 1990) is a young Maltese artist whose practice is largely figurative and expressionistic. After studying and working abroad, she has settled back home and is honouring us with her strong contemporary art exhibit. Her work contains distinct experimental techniques which explore themes of aesthetics, identity and psychology. Her portraiture seeks to move from its representative constraints through the passage of movement and abstraction of form The artist’s latest series features psychologically charged paintings, drawings and an exciting and dynamic combination of the traditional and digital disciplines of painting and photography resulting in ‘photopaintings’. Such works echo the influence of artists Gerard Richter and Francis Bacon. Hosted by Heritage Malta at the Maritime Museum, Birgu, offering FREE admittance. Executed under the curation of Justine Balzan Demajo, and inaugurated by Konrad Buhagiar . Altered Egos will be exhibited till the 22nd of May.
