About
Albert Camus (1913–1960), French novelist, playwright and essayist, was born at Mondovi, Algeria, taught for a time and then became a journalist. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957. His novels include L’Étranger, La Peste, Le Premier homme and La Chute. L’Exil et le royaume is a collection of his short stories. His plays include Caligula, Le Malentendu, L’État de siège and Les Justes. His essays include Le Mythe de Sisyphe, Noces, L’Été, Lettres à un ami allemande and L’Homme révolté. Camus was killed in a car crash near Paris.
David Greig was born in Edinburgh. His plays include: Europe, The Architect, The Speculator, The Cosmonaut’s Last Message to the Woman He Once Loved in the Former Soviet Union, Victoria and Outlying Islands.
