Leave your mark on this site-specific installation that invites community members to contribute their experiences of love, loss and longing to a collective collage along the pontoon.

Mal-Baħar / Conversations with the Sea is a site-specific installation along the San Ġorġ Breakwater Pontoon (located next to the Birżebbuġa Local Council) which aims to create a physical and experiential path along the pontoon through the positioning and the interaction with objects in the space. These objects recall familiar settings and foster a thought journey through the locality’s past, present and possible future events.

Created and organised by: Valletta 2018, Valletta Design Cluster; In collaboration with: Kunsill Lokali ta' Birżebbuġa (the Birżebbuġa Local Council), La Monnaie (BEL), Le Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence (FRA), Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft (AUT), Krakowskie Biuro Festiwalowe (POL), Operadagen Rotterdam (NLD), Santa Maria da Feira (PRT); Co-funded by: Programm Ewropa Kreattiva tal-Kummissjoni Ewropea (the Creative Europe Programme of the European Commission)
