Pre-opera talk at 7.15pm Orphée et Eurydice: Two names that will always belong together. Two people who loved each other even beyond the shadow of death itself. Music and dance come together in this story of loss and obsession in this new production of “Orphée et Eurydice” (1859 Berlioz revision). Composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck based on the myth of Orpheus and set to a libretto by Ranieri de' Calzabigi it features leading local soloists and chorus with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Philip Walsh. Directed by Denise Mulholland. Re-imagined in the Victorian era, this production promises to be both moving and visually striking. Gillian Zammit plays Euryduce Orphée et Eurydice: żewġ ismijiet li dejjem imorru flimkien. Żewġ persuni li jinħabbu b’imħabba bla konfini, lil hinn anke mid-dell tal-mewt infisha. Iż-żfin u l-mużika jiltaqgħu u jingħaqdu f’din l-istorja ta’ telfien u ossessjoni f’din il-produzzjoni ġdida tal-opra Orphée et Eurydice (ir-reviżjoni ta’ Berlioz, 1859) tal-kompożitur Christoph Willibald Gluck. Hija bbażata fuq il-mit ta’ Orfew, b’librett ta’ Ranieri de’ Calzabigi. Jieħdu sehem solisti u kor lokali prinċipali flimkien mal-Orkestra Filarmonika Nazzjonali. Surmast Philip Walsh.
