Palm Sunday

Malta

Sunday 20 March
Malta Across Malta

Palm Sunday is a Christian feast which always falls on the Sunday before Easter Sunday. The feast commemorates an event mentioned by all four Gospels - the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem in the days before his Passion. The feast is celebrated in all the parishes around Malta and Gozo as 'Hadd il-Palm'. The Maltese tradition is to bless palm leaves and olive leaves and distribute the leaves amongst the faithful to take home to keep away disease and the evil eye.
