Description
In commemoration of Holy Week, various parts of the island including the village of Zebbug hold traditional Good Friday processions. These solemn processions showcase an awe-inspiring display of faith and devotion, where life-size statues are carried on the shoulders of bearers, from the parish church through the village streets. Brass bands play marches following the beautifully carved statues, some hundreds of years old, depicting the passion and death of Jesus Christ. Local villagers dress up as Roman soldiers, Jewish priests, and important Biblical characters, depicting pivotal moments from the life and passion of Our Lord.
Front section seats for the Good Friday late afternoon procession are included as well as a live commentary in your chosen language as the stories of the Old Testament play out before your eyes.
