Giannini is an excellent place to have lunch or dinner when visiting Valletta. The restaurant is situated above St. Michael's bastions with vast views of Manoel Island, Sliema and the pretty Marsamxetto Harbour. The third floor of a typical Malta townhouse, reached by lift from the ground floor lounge bar, has been converted into a delightful restaurant. Giannini tends to be popular with locals for business lunches and romantic dinners in a refined casual and discreet atmosphere.
An evening at Giannini could start with an aperitif in the ground floor lounge bar from where you can also view the menu whilst your hosts prepare your table before heading up to the main restaurant. Having the whole length of the facade with sliding glass doors the restaurant basks in natural light all day and offers romantic panoramic nightime views in the evening. This gives an immediate 'wow' factor as soon as you step into the place. You can either be seated in the lovely and comfortable interiors or, in favourable weather conditions, on the outside terrace for which pre-booking is essential.
The cuisine at Giannini is a delicious blend of Mediterranean food. Fresh fish is available daily (ask the host) and you should also consider the daily specials such as the pastas scribbled on the board. The a la carte menu changes according to season with a appetizing choice of starters, mains and desserts.
