Porto del Sol is located in Xemxija, a small seaside town situated between St. Paul's Bay and Mellieha. The restaurant takes full advantage of being just across the road from the sea - its large panoramic windows offers diners lovely views of the bay: choppy menacing seas in the winter and dead calm waters full of boats in the summer.
The bar area at Porto del Sol offers an ideal corner for aperitifs and some space and time to study the menu. The food consists of genuine homely dishes. The fish is as fresh as can be - brought in by fishermen who moor within this same bay. The surrounding area also thrives with farmers offering the freshest vegetables possible. Meats and game are all well represented with a healthy choice of duck, veal, beef, lamb and rabbit. The inevitable hearty choice of pastas is also available.
This family run restaurant is ideal for an unpretentious but rewarding lunch or dinner. Anthony Schembri, the owner, will most likely make time from the kitchen to visit your table and in his own polite and gentle demeanour discuss the daily specials, any special requests, wine options and will generally keep an eye to see that all is proceeding smoothly.
Weekend lunches are especially popularand so reservations are highly recommended.
The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Porto del Sol Guesthouse self-catering apartments.
