Begin your journey in the Three Cities area, which includes Cospicua, Vittoriosa, and Senglea. These towns are closely linked to Malta’s maritime past, and their location near the Grand Harbour made them very important. Start with a drive past Cospicua, the largest of the three, heavily fortified in the 17th century. The walls were built to protect the inner harbour, and the area played a role during the Knights period and later during World War II. Next, continue to Vittoriosa, a city with a strong naval history. Before Valletta existed, Vittoriosa was key to controlling Malta, and the Knights of St John settled here in 1530. Many original buildings are still visible today. Walking through the narrow streets and old structures feels historical and authentic, and the harbour views add to the experience. The final stop in the Three Cities is Senglea, a small peninsula with beautiful views. It is known for its resistance during the Great Siege of 1565, and its name Civitas Invicta reflects its strength. Take a short walk through the quiet, traditional streets, and from the viewpoint you see Valletta across the water, a great moment for photos. After exploring the Three Cities, change pace and travel to Marsa to visit Marsovin Cellars, one of the most well-known wineries in Malta. Here, learn about local wine production, explained in a simple way, and then enjoy a tasting session where different Maltese wines are served.
