Description

Begin your tour with a visit to the Blue Grotto, a network of six caves with stunning views and clear waters. Opt for a boat ride (weather permitting) at an extra cost. Next, visit the Tarxien Temples, consisting of three separate but attached temple structures. Continue to Zejtun, traditionally known as Città Beland, a title conferred by the grandmaster of the Order of the Knights of Malta, Ferdinand von Hompesch zu Bolheim in 1797. Stop at the Museum of Art and History, which houses a collection of paintings, sculptures, memorabilia, and archaeological findings pertaining to the parish of Zejtun and its surrounding areas. See statues and items forming part of the Good Friday Procession on permanent display within the museum. Then, visit Luqa Briffa Garden, known in Żejtun as Ġnien tal-Kmand. Next, head to Marsaxlokk, a small, picturesque, traditional fishing village in the southeastern region of the island. The village is known for the Marsaxlokk Market, which takes place along the seafront, and for the national boats, the Luzzu and the Kajjik. These boats serve the fishermen fishing near the shore. Finally, drive to the Delimara Peninsula, which forms half of the Marsaxlokk coast. The peninsula is mostly known for its two tourist-oriented bays: St Peter’s Pool and Kalanka Bay. It is also known as the location of the primary power station in Malta, the Delimara power station. A lighthouse, a British fort, and the remains of a Hospitaller battery can also be found on the peninsula. From May to October, enjoy a swimming stop at Kalanka Bay. From November to April, take a countryside walk around this beautiful area.
