Begin your tour at San Anton Palace in Attard, the official residence of Malta’s president since 1974. Originally a 17th-century country villa for Antoine de Paule, it was expanded into a palace by 1623. The palace has served various historical roles, including as headquarters for the National Assembly and residence for civil governors.
Surrounding the palace are the extensive San Anton Gardens, partially open to the public since 1882. Explore these gardens before continuing to Rabat.
In Rabat, visit St. Paul’s Catacombs, ancient underground galleries and tombs dating back to Roman times. According to tradition, St. Paul stayed in this area for three months after being shipwrecked in 60 A.D. The catacombs are maintained by Heritage Malta, and entrance tickets are included.
The tour concludes in Mdina, also known as Città Vecchia or Città Notabile. This fortified city was Malta’s capital from antiquity through the medieval period.
