Description
Gozo is a Mediterranean island known for its history and diverse scenery. This full-day coach tour covers its important landmarks and tranquil bays while providing a comfortable travel experience.
The tour starts with a 20-minute ferry crossing from Malta to Mġarr Harbour, where you will notice Gozo’s rural charm, rolling hills, and quiet villages. The island’s landscape includes farms, sandy beaches, and secluded coves.
Your first stop is the Ġgantija Temples, some of the oldest free-standing stone structures in the world, dating from 3600–2500 BC. These limestone megaliths weigh up to 50 tonnes and predate Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. The name “Ġgantija” means “giant,” based on local legends about their builders.
Next, visit Victoria, Gozo’s capital city. The ancient Citadel dominates the skyline and has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. It served as a medieval refuge and today offers panoramic views and narrow streets that reveal Gozo’s past. Victoria combines traditional markets and shops in a relaxed setting.
Then, the tour proceeds to Xlendi Bay, a bay surrounded by cliffs and valleys. Once a fishing village, Xlendi features a promenade with cafes and restaurants, maintaining a calm atmosphere despite its popularity.
The final stop is Dwejra Bay on Gozo’s west coast, known for its geological formations. The Inland Sea is a lagoon connected to the open sea by a natural tunnel. Weather permitting, an optional boat trip through the tunnel is available for an added fee, providing a close-up view of the coastline.
A knowledgeable guide accompanies the tour, offering historical and cultural insights throughout the day.
