Description
The Knights of Malta exhibition presents a unique series of scenes depicting the life and times of Malta’s Crusader Knights. In 1530, Grand Master L’Isle Adam entered the fortified city of Mdina, setting the stage for this multimedia experience.
Produced using special effects and dramatic lighting, the display brings history to life, portraying the energy of those who lived, fought, and died during that era. Suitable for all ages, the exhibition covers themes such as piracy, sieges, as well as the Knights’ medical and architectural contributions.
Visitors enter “Casa Magazzini,” stepping back through time into 34 life-sized tableaux illustrating two centuries of the Knights’ rule on Malta. Scenes include conferences between Knights and Grandmasters, battle depictions, the aftermath of the 1693 earthquake in Mdina, and care for the sick in the order’s hospital.
The show also highlights the Knights’ role in building Valletta and other monuments. Multilingual narration in thirteen languages ensures a detailed understanding of the historical context throughout the 40-minute experience, which includes a 3D digital audio-visual introduction and walkthrough.
