Birgu, older than Malta’s capital Valletta, holds a rich history of torture, witchcraft, crime, and ghost stories. This walking tour reveals the spells cast between the 16th and 18th centuries, including incantations to induce love, curses on enemies, and rituals to overcome fear.
During the tour, you will hear tragic ghost stories tied to the city’s palazzos and fortifications and visit the church rumored to have been visited by the Devil. The route includes the site of Malta’s largest explosion, the home of the island’s executioner, and the location where a priest murdered his lover.
The meeting point is outside the Advanced Gate in Birgu.
