Getting to Malta

Forming part of the European Union and Schengen area, entry and exit into Malta has been largely facilitated especially if travelling from destinations within participating areas (an Identity Card is all that is required). For those EU countries that an ID card is not issued and that do not form part of the Schengen agreement, such as the UK, a valid passport is necessary. For updated Visa requirements please refer to Ministry of Foreign Affairs website: mfa.gov.mt/

Air

Malta is just a few hours away from most European mainland destinations. Air Malta operates flights to and from all the major airports in Europe, Middle East and North Africa (click here to stay tuned with travel specials and the latest travel information on  the facebook page of the national airline) . Malta also has very good intercontinental connections and the advent of low cost airlines has significantly increased accessibility with direct connections now available from circa 70 different international airports.

The Malta International Airport is a modern structure that well serves the 3 million passengers that pass through its doors every year. There is a good amount of quality retail space in both the arrival and departure terminals that should make the whole travelling experience a pleasurable one.
