Mgarr ix-Xini

Reached by car (or a longish hike) from Sannat or Xewkija, Mgarr ix-Xini is situated in a natural gorge. The small pebble bay is secluded spot and surrounded by a rugged and high rock face on both sides. There is a 17th century tower that guards the opening of the bay and this can be easily explored by following an old foot path that joins it to the bay. Due to the rocky cliff face descending deep into the sea, this is another ideal spot for snorkelers and divers who can explore the small caves dotted around the bay. This is also the departing point for divers looking to explore the "Xlendi", a purposely sunk car ferry that once used to serve the Malta-Gozo route.
