Carmelite Society Queen Victoria Band Club - Żurrieq
Għaqda Karmelitana Banda Queen Victoria, Żurrieq
The new premises of the Carmelite Society Queen Victoria Band Club was inaugurated in 2006. It was the culmination of more that 150 years of work and dedication by the committee members, musicians, regular members and supporters of this proud club in Żurrieq, Malta.
The club is located just next to the Church of St Catherine and is a testament to the skill of local workers who carved the Maltese limestone into a beautiful facade. The same can be said about the woodwork of the lounge bar and of the grand staircase leading to a spacious and richly adorned hall on the first floor.
Apart from other halls and spaces for the Żurrieq community, the club is also home to the studio of the radio 'Leħen il-Karmelitani' which is on air during the annual village feast celebrations as well as during the Christmas period.
Apart from the historical musical band, the main activities of the Carmelite Society Queen Victoria Band Club also include all the work related to the Żurrieq village feast decorations as well as all the locally produced fireworks.
