Beethoven and Brahms feature side by side under
the baton of Principal Conductor Brian Schembri,
with renowned soloists Jiman Wee and Kirill
Rodin joining the orchestra to perform Brahms’
Double Concerto.
Originally written for Napoleon Bonaparte,
Beethoven’s Third Symphony was dramatically
renamed “Sinfonia Eroica” or “Heroic Symphony”
after the composer saw a different side to Napoleon
than the one he had admired him for.
In contrast, Isouard was a loyal Bonapartist, and
the overture to his opera “Joconde”, edited by
Richard Divall, will open these concerts.
